Veterinarians
Dr. Trev Shive
Dr. Trev completed a year of a Bachelor of Science degree and three years of Wildlife Biology at the University of Montana before graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1994 and coming to EAH. He has been married for twenty years and has two daughters, cats Tuna and Salmon and dogs Lily and Dega. His spare time is spent racing his Standardbred horses and playing golf and hockey. |
Dr. Juanita Ashton
Dr. Juanita started at EAH in 2003 after completing her Bachelor of Science at Cape Breton University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College. She is a certified Behaviour Consultant through the IAABC and offers consults by referral. She spends her free time with her husband, four children, cat Petey White, laying hens and sheep Stella and Sophie. She also enjoys running, camping, swimming, and painting. Dr. Ashton is certified in Low Stress Handling! |
Dr. Amanda Stephenson
Dr. Amanda joined the EAH team in 2008 after practising abroad and in the Annapolis Valley. She received a Bachelor of Science and graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2006. She loves the outdoors and spends her time camping and hiking with her husband, two daughters and Poodle Oveja. |
Dr. Vanessa Churchill
Dr. Vanessa came to EAH in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees before graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College. She has two cats, Parker and Autumn and a mixed breed dog, Lucky. She enjoys spending time with her husband and son, all things equine, camping, and is a member of 100 Women Who Care (East Hants). |
Dr. Ashley Babin
Dr. Ashley joined the EAH team in 2015 after moving from New Brunswick. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College. Her spare time is spent with family and friends, kayaking, hiking and camping with her family, including Australian Shepherd Lucy. |

Jacy - Registered Veterinary Technician
Jacy joined the team in 2015 as a student during her two years in the Veterinary Technology Program at Dalhousie. She has been working full time since April 2016 after becoming an RVT. She has a cat Winnie. In her free time she plays rugby with Enfield RFC **Currently on Maternity Leave** |
Crystal - Veterinary Assistant
Crystal came to EAH in 2000 after completing the Veterinary Assistant Program at Maritime Business College. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, cats Hunter and New Kitty, Border Collie Emma and horse Spice. Crystal is certified in Low Stress Handling! |
Nikki - Veterinary Assistant
Nikki came to EAH as a student in 2007 and started full time in 2013 after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from UPEI. She spends her free time with family, friends and cat Finnigan. She also enjoys camping, running and reading. |
Laura - Veterinary Assistant
Laura started as a student in 2010 and upon graduating from the Maritime Business College Veterinary Assistant Program in 2011 joined the EAH team. She lives in Rawdon with her husband and daughter. She enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. |
Kelsey - Veterinary Assistant
Kelsey came to us as a student in 2017 while enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program at DaVinci College before starting full time in the summer of 2018. She spends her spare time cuddling her two cats, Tori and Simba and dog Remmy. She also volunteers with the Nine Mile River Fire Department. |
Holly - Registered Veterinary Technician
Holly started in August 2019 covering a maternity leave. She graduated in 2017 from Dalhousie's vet tech program and has been on the job since 2018. She enjoys spending her time with her family, friends, fiancée, cats Stella and Christie and pitbull Max. When she's not working, you can find her at the beach or camping. |
Ozzy - Official Greeter
Ozzy adopted the EAH in 2008 as a kitten and has been stirring up trouble ever since. His title is Greeter but his duties entail demonstrating how to properly administer medication, lounging on the front counter, and teaching nosey pooches to respect cats. His favourite past times include lounging in the sun on waiting room chairs and tormenting the delivery people |
