Behavioural Consults
The Elmsdale Animal Hospital is pleased to offer Canine Behaviour Consultations with Dr. Juanita Ashton.
Dr. Ashton has had a passion for canine and feline behaviour throughout her career, even having the pleasure of meeting and being mentored by Dr. Sophia Yin, the creator of the Low Stress Handling program used at many veterinary clinics. She is a certified Canine Behaviour Consultant through the International Animal Association of Behaviour Consultants and is on the board of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour. She has been seeing behaviour cases in house since September 2016 and is now accepting canine behaviour cases on a strictly referral basis. |
Behavioural problems can be frustrating for the whole family, including the pet. Whether a dog is excessively barking when visitors are over or a cat is urinating on furniture, behaviour problems can be a source of stress and even embarrassment for pet owners. We are here to help alleviate some of your stress! Dr. Juanita Ashton addresses canine and feline behaviour issues such as:
- Aggression towards people or other animals
- Inappropriate urination
- Fears and phobias (e.g. noise phobias)
- Separation anxiety
- Excessive vocalizing (barking or meowing)
- Urine marking
- Anxiety (including travelling to the vet)
- Excessive grooming
- Compulsive behaviours (e.g. tail or shadow chasing)
- Attention seeking behaviours
- Cognitive Dysfunction
